For electrical and MEP subcontractors on Procore jobs

Get paid for the work you already did.

Second Shift is the back office that works after your crew clocks out. We handle your change orders, pay applications and retainage. AI does the drafting and the chasing. A person who has worked the trade approves every document, and you sign and send it.

Nothing reaches your GC without your approval. You stay the contracting party.

The problem

The money is lost in paperwork, not in the field.

Most subs don't have anyone whose full-time job is chasing what they're owed. The PM does it at night, or it doesn't get done.

92%

of subs say their change orders aren't always paid in full.

66%

wrote off change-order revenue in the past 12 months.

51 days

average wait for payment after a pay application.

67%

still build pay applications in spreadsheets.

How it works

AI drafts and chases. A person approves. You send.

  1. Paperwork comes in

T&M tags, photos, emails, Procore RFIs and the spec book.

  2. AI drafts it

Change orders priced from your own rates, pay apps, and closeout gap lists.

  3. A reviewer approves

Someone who knows the trade checks scope and backup on every document.

  4. You sign and send

You stay the party of record with the GC. Always.

  5. Follow-ups go out

Scheduled reminders until each item is answered, approved or paid.

  6. Money collected

Change orders paid, pay apps funded, retainage released.

Services

Start with one stuck job. Keep the desk if it pays.

Start here

Retainage recovery sprint

One finished job with retainage still held. We build the closeout gap list against the spec, chase the missing O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts and lien waivers, and deliver a complete closeout binder.

Monthly

Change-order desk

Field T&M tags, photos and voice notes become change-order requests priced from your labor rates and material sheet, logged and followed up until approved and billed.

Monthly

Pay-application desk

Monthly pay apps and schedule of values prepared on time, lien waivers tracked, and every billing deadline on one calendar.

Built-in guardrails

Your pricing and your GC relationships stay yours.

  • A person approves every document before it goes out.
  • Prices come only from your own rate sheet. We don't estimate.
  • You remain the contracting party, in writing.
  • Your data stays in your own systems wherever possible.
  • Built for Procore, Outlook or Gmail, and QuickBooks or Foundation.
  • No automated messages to your GC, ever.

Who's behind it

Run by someone who has pulled wire, not just pushed paper.

Second Shift was started by a former IBEW, CWA and Teamsters member with years of hands-on Procore experience on GC-run projects.

That means knowing what a real T&M tag, extra and backcharge look like, and how subcontractor permissions work on a GC's Procore project. It's the part software vendors and bookkeeping firms don't have.

Who it's for: electrical subs doing roughly $5M to $75M a year, then mechanical, plumbing and fire protection.
